As dryer vents become filled with lint and other debris, the efficiency of the dryer decreases and drying time increases. This increases energy consumption since the dryer has to run longer to dry your clothes and can also cause fires in the dryer or the dryer duct. Longer drying time also causes premature wear of the dryer.

In many of today’s houses the dryer vents have longer runs and more elbows. The added restrictions increase the need for dryer vent cleaning.

If your dryer smells hot or is taking longer to dry then it is time to have your vent inspected and cleaned. Dryer vents should be cleaned at least every 2 years. Having the vent cleaned may save your life!
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that in 1998, clothes dryers were associated with 15,600 fires, which resulted in 20 deaths and 370 injuries.

Fires can occur when lint builds up in the dryer or in the exhaust duct. Lint can block the flow of air, cause excessive heat build-up, and result in a fire in some dryers.
DID YOU KNOW?

Over 16,000 dryer vent fires are caused every year resulting in property damage over $75,000,000.00.
When your dryer system is clogged, moisture stays in the dryer, clothes don't dry, thermostat and heating elements work harder, causing more breakdowns and higher maintenance costs.

If your dryer's air flow is restricted, lint has no where to go and if some of it lands on the heating element and burns, you'll have a fire.

Dryer "brushes" are good for cleaning the lint filter of your dryer, but can't reach deep into the exhaust vent where lint builds up.
Lint does to a dryer what cholesterol does to the heart..it clogs the system and slows circulation - in both cases, that spells trouble!
