The Basics of Insulation

You may not spend much time thinking about the impact of insulation beyond its benefits to your home or office. But insulation has a significant impact on your environment - inside and out. More than you may realize.

More Insulation is Needed!

A recent Harvard study on energy consumption found that nearly 65% of U.S. homes (45 million total) have insulation levels that are below the 2000 IECC (International Energy Conservation Code) levels. This translates to more than 800 trillion BTUs (British Thermal Units) that could be saved each year.

Properly insulated new homes would save 300 billion BTUs each year.

This equals 28 supertankers of crude oil and 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas!

So, when you think insulation, you're well on your way to reducing energy costs. Adding fiber glass insulation above minimum building requirements whether in a commercial or residential space significantly increases energy savings, and enhances the overall quality of your indoor environment.
While insulation helps keep our homes and buildings comfortable and energy efficient, the energy being saved is also reducing our nation's fuel consumption and reliance on foreign sources of oil. Additionally, by reducing energy consumption, our country prevents millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, reducing the effects of global warming.

Did you know that insulation installed in homes and buildings saves over 400 trillion BTUs annually - enough to power the state of Florida for 4 years!
